Training Healthcare Workers

One of our mandates is skill development for healthcare workers. We encourage health professionals to acquire needed skills in safely caring for children and families, especially pregnant mothers. We offer training for medical doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and birth attendants to reduce preventable deaths among pregnant women and neonates in the country.

Community Mobile Diagnostics

Our team members including doctors work with primary healthcare workers in remote places to provide laboratory services and ultrasound scan support for the care of pregnant women in these places to foster early identification of danger signs in pregnancy and prompt care. We collaborate and work with the community health workers and respond promptly to calls.

Community Birth Attendants’ Referral Support

Community Birth Attendants are the ones in charge of most vaginal deliveries. In the face of adversity or any difficult labour, pregnant women and their babies have limited help for transport and other logistics surrounding prompt referral. At AfricanDEF, we provide a direct line of communication, transportation and standby referral centres for pregnant women in distress and their carers with neonatal care for the newborn.

Sexual & Reproductive Health Right

Youths seek information about their sexuality but often with limited information and people to turn to. Though expected to be readily available, sexual health and family planning services are difficult to access for young people, including couples. In collaboration with a healthcare facility in Ibadan, we provide family planning information and services for all young people and couples in need.
